Looking for a Mediterranean cruise and heard Edge class is spectacular. The ship is impressive in size and being new is exceptionally clean.

The Luminae restaurant is quite nice, with a limited menu and few changes during the week. The Cafeteria as an option for wider selection is quite ordinary, and I have had better meals in diners. The service people in the cafeteria, are trying to keep things moving. Had plates taken from under my nose and literally took a fork from my wife's hand. Bad part, it is one of the only options for a hot breakfast when going on a morning excursion. The other "free" included restaurants also have limited menu choices, require reservations.

On previous cruises with Royal Caribbean, the suite and loyalty lounge was a high point. The bartender attentive, the snacks and appetizers served were a treat, and the concierge was your new best friend for the week. On Beyond, you never meet the concierge unless you call them or visit their non descript office. The appetizer offerings in the Retreat are limited and unchanging during the cruise. The bartenders were OK, but if you have a drink package, no advantage over the other bars.

Cabin Review

We were in a Celebrity Suite. The Suite is a spectacular room with plenty of storage. The balcony was amazing and deck chairs most comfortable. The details of the suite need refinement. The bedroom "door" as such is a slider with a translucent panel. Fine for privacy, however light readily passes through. So if you have a partner or kids who are night owls or early risers, no good for keeping a sleeping environment. The couch is a fold out, good for kids or those travelling with another couple. But the couch is uncomfortable for sitting, as were the other chairs in the room. The deck chairs were more comfortable

Port Reviews

Athens (Piraeus)

The Acropolis is magnificent. Tough excursion to reach it. But worth the effort if you are physically able. A much storied location

Barcelona

Toured on our own in Barcelona. Friendly people, beautiful architecture. Great food. Entertainment right on the street. We stayed right across from the Cathedral (not Sagrada Familia

Malta (Valletta)

Beautiful port and several great excursion opportunities.
