Just to get this out of the way, this was our 23rd cruise, 6th on Royal. Quantum class of ships is my favorite for RCCL. Big enough to have a separate Music Hall but not to have to require reservations for shows like the Oasis class ships. Selected this voyage as it is one of the few that spends a full day in Victoria, BC. However, it skips Ketchican. Very few kids on the ship which was another factor in selecting the sailing date. Not that I don't like kids, I just would rather not cruise with somebody else's.

Embarkation was fine as we had an early boarding time. I have seen long lines in Seattle as a Celebrity ship also uses the same dock. One passenger was looking for a lost luggage on the second day and it wasn't clear which ship it was on.

Weather was great in Juneau and Skagway. Didn't go on any excursions in these ports as this was our 3rd Alaska cruise and we had done the Mendenhall Glacier and the White Pass Railway. We did go on a whale watching excursion in Victoria, however this is not the port for that. Saw 3 killer whales at a distance and some sea lions. While the boat and crew were fine, there were no humpbacks or gray whales to be found.

Cabin Review

Ocean View Balcony

Balcony cabin, deck 8 by the forward elevator. Wife thought the mattress was very hard. Had to have maintenance come up to oil the hinges on the bathroom door. Cabin was fine.
