We chose this cruise due to the variety of the intinerary. We had never sailed on Norwegian, but have had good experiences with lines as diverse as Carnival and Silversea. The embarkation point in Amsterdam was conveniently located to the City. The embarkation process itself was painfully long, chaotic and barely sanitary. The cabins were fine. A bit dated. No USB charging stations and the internet service was poor. The room stewards were marvelous, as were most of the rest of the service staff. The Customer Service desk was anything but helpful. As a veteran of several cruises and a fan of cruising, I have to say the food (which is always a big draw for us in cruising) was a severe disappointment. The best food to be had on the ship was in the Garden Cafe buffet. It had a good selection and was mostly pretty good. The lukewarm (at best) temperature of most of the food was the biggest drawback. The specialty restaurants were nothing special, but much better than the main dining rooms. I have had better steaks at Applebees. Most of the desserts were practically inedible. The variety of bars and entertainment was a positive, but being disappointed at every meal was a sure fire way of getting us to cross Norwegian off our list of acceptable cruise lines.
The size and layout of the cabin was nice. There was ample storage and the balcony was suitable. The cabin steward was very friendly. The bathtub was small and had a peculiar profile. The biggest drawback was the lack of a USB port.
