Seattle...arrived in Seattle 2 days early to get over the jet lag coming from the UK. It was sad to see the vast numbers of homeless people everywhere, which also didnt make me feel safe. Overall there wasnt a great deal to do and i was pleased to board the ship.
Norwegian Encore & The Itinerary... I wish i had paid more attention to the itinerary. 4 hours in Juneau (the state capital) was nowhere near enough, similarly Ketchikan again 4 hours was nowhere near enough. 8 hours at Icy Strait Point however was a complete waste of time as there was very little to do and see, 4 hours here would have been sufficient. Then on the way back to Seattle we were taken to Victoria arriving at 8:30 at night leaving at midnight. Mid cruise Glacier Bay was outstanding.
Amenities... The onboard casino and shopping were closed from late afternoon the day prior to disembarkation, the casino closing whenever within 3 miles of any port, only 1 roulette table that was so full you couldnt join and taking more than 5 mins per roll. There was another table in the smoking room, but i wasnt going to visit that and end stinking of cigarette smoke. Total lack of the casino to encourage any cash poker games.
Truly incredible experience.
We had 8 hours here which was a waste of time, little to do and 4 hours would have been more than enough
We had 4 hours here which was enough time for 1 excursion it would have been good to have 8 hours here and given us time to see Juneau
We had 4 hours here which was enough time for 1 excursion it would have been good to have 8 hours here and given us time to see Ketchikan
Arriving at 8:00 p.m we had 4 hours here which was pointless, it was dark and little to do at this time of night
Enough to see and do for a day or possibly two, but lots of homeless people made us feel not very safe.
