Sail Date: Aug 2022

When we booked our Pearl Seas cruise in March of 2022 the latest reviews were dated before the pandemic and, while they were mixed, there were several 5* ratings so we thought we’d give it a try. I checked back before our August sailing date and found nothing but negative comments. So, we prepared ourselves to be disappointed. Fortunately, our reality was very different.

We were pleased that Pearl Seas required and provided a rapid COVID test on the day of sailing. This was manageable because of the limited number of guests (210). Unlike some of the previous reviews, we found the crew to be warm and attentive. We arrived early and had to wait a while to board. We were provided with chairs and were offered an umbrella when it started to rain. Most of the hotel and wait staff were from the Philippines. We learned a couple of Filipino phrases and they really seemed to appreciate our efforts to speak their native language.

We liked the fact that the Pearl Mist is a small ship, but even our mid-grade cabin was bigger than most every ocean-going state room we’ve been in. We didn’t have to turn sideways when walking between the bed and the wall that usually holds the television. The shower was huge compared to most.
