We’ve just come back from a fabulous cruise on Island Princess. We had so much fun and made lots of new friends. There were a few niggles, which I’ve highlighted here but nothing that spoiled our enjoyment.
Embarkation was really easy and fast. Having used the Medallion app to upload all our details, we sailed through check-in and was on board within 15 mins. Two days before the cruise, Princess changed their policy, asking for a ‘declaration of a negative Covid test’ rather than proof from a legitimate source.
The ship is mid-sized (2200 pax) but we were told that there were approx. 1700 on board. The décor has a more classic feel to it, some may say old-fashioned. It certainly looks like it needs some maintenance/upgrading and that was evident throughout the cruise with electrical blackouts, leaking sprinkler systems and old halogen lamps that need replacing. That being said, we like smaller ships that are easy to navigate around and we found this an easy layout for my menopausal brain to remember. It also meant we weren’t far away from a decent coffee in the morning so that my husband could contribute to an intelligent conversation after 9am, following his double espresso.
Comfortable, spacious and good size balcony. the only niggle would be the size of the shower but anybody who has sailed with Princess knows they have the smallest showers in the industry.
