Chosen to take grand children on a holiday, originally intended to be 2 years ago but deferred because of Covid. Although Disney Magic is the oldest in the fleet, she is an elegant well appointed ship of a comfortable size, there were 2100 guests on board for this sailing, neatly full.
Firstly the gripes: Disney’s chosen health partner Prenetics need to up their game and improve the website. Our observed tests would not upload and even when we spoke to one of their staff she couldn’t do it either. We ended up with an email from her saying we were cleared which wasn’t readily accepted at the embarkation. We weren’t the only ones, we spoke to several families who had had trouble with it, as did our daughter travelling separately with her children. I spent ours on the phone trying to sort it!
Embarkation was really slow considering we were supposedly checked in on line. Much, much worse than either Celebrity or Princess, both of which we have a travelled with recently.
Took a ship’s excursion for a tour of the city and a visit to the Rijksmuseum. There wasn’t long enough in the museum and there seemed to be a muddle about the party’s booking so we were kept waiting outside for 20 m minutes plus.
Went under own steam to Tivoli. Not the easiest journey from the port, if you want to use the bus you must have cash!
Booked a ship’s excursion which was cancelled whilst sitting waiting for it to begin. Not impressed. The choices seemed very similar, do we really want to visit a ski jump?
