This is our third Alaskan cruise chosen to take some friends on their first, but they for Covid and missed it. We have sailed with Celebrity many times before and except for smaller ships like Azamara, it’s our favourite.
Firstly, Eclipse is NOT one of the ships that has been “revolutionised”, i.e. upgraded with features from Edge and that was a disappointment. It feels like most other cruise lines, nicer decor but ordinary by today’s standards.
The staterooms are good quality and well looked after, the dining experience was not as good as previously. The food is maybe 4* rather than the 5* it was. There seem to be less staff especially sommeliers.
Beds are comfy, good shower, well maintained.
The meeting point and facilities were a long way from where the ship docked. Went on the river walk to see bears, on my tour we saw one, but the other two trips did not. If we hadn’t seen one it would have been a very disappointing excursion because the river and scenery is dull.
The town does change, a bit of a fun stop. Did the Duck tour again. There were noticeably less eagles about than on my previous 2 visits.
