We sailed on the NCL Breakaway up the Eastern seaboard from New York City to Halifax Nova Scotia. While the service for the most part continues to be excellent, we've noticed a decline in the rest of the cruising experience. In this review, I will compare our experience in the Haven on the Breakaway and the Haven on the NCL Jade. First off, the quality of food is not like it used to be. On prior cruises I would have to say that we were impressed with the meals and selection of food. This was not true on the Breakaway cruise. Our suite in the Haven, while roomy and well appointed, often smelled like backed up sewage, and it was impossible to warm the master bedroom. This room was cold throughout the entire cruise. We suspect the heating/cooling system was not working. The mid-afternoon snacks provided in the common area (for Haven guests) left something to be desired. The security system into the Haven often did not work. We have one more cruise booked with NCL, if we have the same experience, it will be our last.
