Norwegian Breakaway

This was a fabulous short break to the Western Caribbean on the Norwegian Breakaway, calling at Harvest Caye and Cozumel. This was the Breakaway’s final cruise in her Caribbean season lasting 5 days, allowing 2 days to reposition the ship from Miami to New York without passengers (can you say crew party!) Once back to her home in New York, the Breakaway will begin her fall season cruising to New England and Canada.

The Norwegian Breakaway was the first of a new Breakaway/Breakaway Plus class (including the Breakaway, Getaway, Escape, Joy, Bliss, and Encore). All the ships were built at Meyer Werft in Papenburg, Germany. The Breakaway construction began on September 21, 2011, and she was delivered to NCL on April 25, 2013.

The Breakaway was originally home ported in New York. Her hull art was designed by New York artist Peter Max and the ship was christened by godmothers, The Rockettes, on May 8, 2013. The Breakaway was refurbished in 2018 and 2022. We sailed on the Breakaway’s first voyage to the Eastern Caribbean in 2013.
