We wanted to cruise Iceland and Norway as my wife is Icelandic. We had never sailed on Viking before. Our room was a Junior Penthouse and was quite nice and roomy. I was surprised by the decor. It seemed cold and far from nautical. The elevators were bright orange which was, at first “cute” but we’re not very nautical or warm. All the art on the boat and, in our room we’re all black and white prints (boring)! There was a theatre but the entertainment was very limited. We found this to be OK and great stage shows we’re not expected. We found the dress code to, not exist and we were surprised at the casual clothing and lack of any dress code. This cruise was definitely an older age group, as we’re we, but the dress code went beyond casual. Great spa area but the pool? I love a pool and working out. With excitement, I jumped into the main and, only pool. I hope my screams were not heard. The pool is Salt Water. It took 5 minutes to clear my burning eyes. A Salt Water Pool? Viking, you must be kidding. Boat decor seemed cold and lack any nautical reference. The dress code seemed too lax and, at times, inappropriate. One further observation: The entry area to the theatre, in both sides is all white, stark and seemed very strange. We thought were in a hospital ward.
