Cabin: Royal Suite with French Balcony

We had never cruised before - river or ocean - so didn't know what to expect. We will probably never do another one, because nothing can live up to the phenomenal time we had on or Jewish Heritage cruise. Where to begin? We had a royal suite - so worth the extra money for a king size bed, double sinks, a larger shower, a separate toilet room with sink, 2 televisions, a table and chairs and 12 feet of sliding doors opening onto river views. The food and service - regardless of which dining room - was spectacular. Evening entertainment (karaoke, a fabulous guitarist/singer, a klezmer band, lectures) also were entertaining and added to the camaraderie among the passengers. The land tours were even better than we had hoped for - knowledgeable guides, beautiful cities and towns, accessibility to the ship. Our cruise director, Istvan Pinter, spoke perfect English, had a wicked sense of humor and was there whenever we had a question, a concern or just wanted to schmooze.

If you want a wonderful experience on the Danube (or any other river Avalon cruises on), consider Avalon as your #1 choice.
