We have never explored the Eastern Med/Adriatic and were looking forward to seeing new countires and enjoying cruising as we have experienced cruising before. The airports going and returning were manic, queues /delays and yet more queues. The Marella Explorer, crew and staff were excellent, but the ship was tired looking. On arrival to our cabin there were stains on the settee the bed was lumpy and the toilet smelled. The staff apologised and cleaned the cabin again but the cabin still had a jaded feel and looked like it needed a refurbisment. We paid the extra for a balcony which was never cleaned as the glass was stained throughout the 14 days.We opted for the Market place to dine, food was basic, fairly tasteless and during busy periods was hectic.
The entertainment staff were very good but it had the redcoat feel about it.We enjoyed the quiz and their professionalism but if karaoke and audience participation is your thing then so be it.The resident bands(2) performed throughout the day as well as Rod a piano singer.,the "guest stars " were so so,the comedian was UNFUNNY and embarrassing. One recommendation is don't book their venture ashore trips, very expensive, its cheaper to hop on a tour bus or ask taxi drivers for their best price. We paid for the cruise nearly £8,000,had to pay for a Covid test 24 hours before the cruise £42,Taxis to the airport £120 plus kennel fees,so no not a cheap holiday by any means, but the locations were on the whole very good, would we book again,? not with Marella,no internet signal the television had no signal and the remote control was broken (replaced on request). In the cabin you could not hear the ship broadcast, all very second rate.Did we enjoy ourselves,Yes because it was our holidays, was it value for money? sorry no .
Stains on couch,ripped upholstery,lumpy bed,smelly toliet/shower.No internet signal,tv had no signal,remote control broken(replaced),balcony not cleaned,glass was dirty throughout the 2 weeks
Never been to Turkey, the locals hassle and try to get you into their shops so be street wise
