I have cruised to Alaska before and NCL is my preferred line. I am an NCL stockholder and am unhappy to write this review. I expected some problems after the restart from COVID and many things can be fixed. However, the worst part was the itinerary. Most of the stops were useless. Instead of Skagway, we went to Haines where there is nothing to do except take the high speed ferry ($79.00 RT) to Skagway. Then to Icy Straight point, their private island which needs a lot. Next to Ketchikan, where there are tons of things to do. They have their own dock at a reclaimed Superfund site 20 minutes by bus from Downtown. We arrived at 6AM when nothing was open and had to be back on the bus at 11 AM when things were opening up. The last stop was Victoria BC. We arrived at 8 PM on Sunday night with 3.5 hours in port. Everything was closed. For me, this was the most disappointing stop.
The food was spotty. Hopefully it will improve as things get back to normal. I had a very bad Chinese meal in their Asian restaurant. Our party of 10 went to the steakhouse (an upcharge). The food was good, but it took 2.5 hours including 45 minutes to sort out the check. We ate most meals at the Buffet because there you could just get something else when your food was overcooked, poorly seasoned or just not right. I am sure this will improve.
It wasn't all bad. As usual NCL had some really good shows. A few bits were racy and embarrassing to be in the audience with young children. A few choreography/costume tweaks will fix that. Throughout the ship were bars with live entertainment is which is one of things I love about NCL.
