My overall comment on this cruise through the Adriatic is that it completely sold me on Silversea, and I already have two more cruises booked for next year. I will go into more detail below, but I think in general, one piece of advice I would give to anyone considering a cruise to any destination or on any line right now is this- do not expect things to be as they might have been before the pandemic. The service industry and hospitality industry have had a heck of a time over the last 2.5 years and things are not back to "normal" yet- and what with supply chain issues, labor force concerns, and ever-changing protocols in various ports, they won't be for quite some time. If you can accept that, along with the challenges it might pose at some point during your trip, you'll be in great shape. If you can't, you'll make yourself, and likely everyone around you, miserable, and you'd be better off booking a different kind of vacation or just staying home entirely.

FOOD: One of the main things that drew me to Silversea was its culinary reputation and here I was very pleased. One disappointment early on was that Indochine was closed for the duration of the voyage. I had been looking forward to eating here but a member of the F&B team shared that they simply did not have enough staff for all the dining options typically available on board for this sailing, so they made the decision to close it. Fortunately, some of their most popular items, such as a phenomenal lemongrass beef dish, were served in Atlantide each day, so you could still experience at least a taste of Indochine's menu during the trip. I ate at all the restaurants apart from Silver Note (not a jazz fan) and also had in-room dining a couple of times, and all in all the quality, selection, and service was really impressive. I particularly enjoyed the dinner I had in La Dame, featuring the best lobster bisque I've ever had, as well as the Hot Rocks experience by the pool. The panorama lounge was my favorite spot for a cocktail, and I never had difficulty finding a good glass of wine to go with dinner.

I had two mediocre meals, one at La Terrazza for dinner that featured overcooked chicken and undercooked pasta (a second dinner experience there was practically perfect so who knows what went wrong during that round!) and my one in-room dining dinner on the last night of the cruise where my fish burger arrived cold and missing a couple of its toppings, but I can easily overlook those missteps since the rest of the dining quality was so high.

Port Reviews

Argostoli (Kefalonia)

By FAR my favorite port we visited in Greece apart from Athens. Beautiful landscapes, calm seas, friendly people, and a relaxed and easygoing atmosphere.
