I always was intrigued about the Amazon , being the largest widest river in the world crossing across all of south. America , I was very lucky to fin a last minute cruise ( 1 week before ) rush to get my yellow fever vaccines it was not easy to find u¡in Santiago , Chile where I am from , then getting to Manaus involved 2 days traveling and it seem every minute like I was heading to a very remote location till I got there and what a city all in all so much to learn and disco¡ver , arriving same day from Belem imagine the heat , the bugs I fely all the time I was in the heart of the South American jungle , headed directly from the airport to embark ( pre covid time ) and once we step in the ship we were greeted and escorted to our cabin 7 floor , I was impress , then a second cabin attendant comes with a tray of soaps to choose from , we new we where fir a treta on this one. never travel in small ship before , hard to ever go back to a large ship after this experience , services was incredible , food outstanding , the cabin with a bathtub which today not common for a veranda Suite in a expedition ship to have one , not even the Endeavor had tubs , the ships decor was supreme , the piano bar on the top deck could no have been more memorable , tactical views of the Amazon , but what really made my ship especial is the BOW Jaccuzy really one of may favorite spots on the ship , this space is a game changer when in a expeditionary vessel , if you can’t go to front of the bow of the vessel to see where your heading and relax in this area is game changer not all small ships have a functional bow for gust like Seabourn does , I am about to board Odyssey for 11 nights post pandemic 26 August 2022 and hope to feel the same way as I did on the quest in the amazon - this trip on the quest took place April 7 2019
Excellent space , excellent wide balcony , bed linen and pillows were top notch , bathroom and bathtub was remarkable
decor was as expected , perhaps a larger wall HD tv could have been fitted in
If your a normal human being and would like to explore a wide range of animals , reptiles , birds , insects and on top all that with so much history from all walks of life , medicine , technology all in the center of the Brazilian jungle in most important river in the world , imagine Henry ford traveling there to develop his tiers for model T , explore the opera house and see the effort to build such structure in such a adverse terrain , look at the fish market how the commercialize the Pece and all foods and fruit fro the region , just feel like a idinana jones your self , strongly recommend Manaus and the Amazon from Iquitos to Belem
Valparaiso , old port and principal port of the pacific before the Panama Canal , all though its only 1 hr away from Santiago its quite colorfull port town , old construction that can show in ancestral architecture , marine museums and many monuments to honor La Guerra Del Pacifico. Its close by to viña Del Mar which is-interconnect to Valparaiso continuing to Reñaca , Con Con and so on , this are the best summer retreats to Chilean , all though in the winter changes to a low population area here you can Find some interesting historic Casonas to stay
Example Palacio Sstoreka , Casa Higueras and so on the beach is with cold water temperature and a aggressive ocean so bathers prefer specific beaches in. summer time like Zapalllar , and other northern towns about 2.0 hrs north
If you are traveling to Antartica or around cape horn , you will be using port of San Antonio which is about 45 minutes south through inner hyw b, after covid , its recomendéd for in bound pax via san Antonio or outbound scl to San Antonio to try to skip Santiago and find typical small towns like Talagante , El Monte , Pomaire to use boutique hotels pre or post cruise
