This was our long awaited Baltic Cruise, postponed from 2020. We were very apprehensive about going after the number of negative comments I had read online about how standards had fallen and how lack of staff was affecting the service. I need not hav worried. Embarkation was smooth and well run. Once on the ship we were greeted with smiles and welcomes by staff wherever we went. Our cabin was lovely and Nora our Stewart was happy to help with any questions we had.we ate mostly in the peninsular and the meridian restaurants where the food and service were mostly of the highest quality. The buffet was our choice for breakfast. We tried out many of the entertainment venues at some point with highlights being the silent disco, the odyssey group (in the theatre)and the ballroom dancing.
The cruise was originally intended to visit St.Petersburg but this was cancelled. However the choice of cities was fantastic and we has a wonderful time exploring in some great weather.
The positives of the cruise were many for me but there were a few negatives. It took us a few days to learn our way around the ship. It would have been great if there was a map in the cabin. The food in the buffet was OK but not anywhere close to the dining room standards and I don't think I got a decent pudding there at all! I got a bit annoyed about the lack of enforcement of the dress code. When I've made the effort to get dressed for dinner it annoyed me to see others wandering in wearing shorts and flip flops and not being challenged.
Deck 8, obstructed view. A lovely quiet cabin , close to lifts and stairs. I would happily stay in this cabin again!
