We chose this cruise based on locations and cost alongside of timing - we were in need of a getaway. We had been on this ship a while ago, for similar reasons, and had a good idea what to expect. I like sea days and there were few of them but, on reflection that was probably for the best.

To start off there is one thing that they do very well and that is getting there and back. The link up of flight, transfer and embarkation made the journey so much easier. This can sometimes mean that you drop off luggage at the airport and meet it in the cabin. One negative to this is that you do get a rush of coach loads arriving for processing at the same time. Likewise, getting on and off at the ports went smoothly.

Food - TBH it was not great but more than acceptable. We had no problems getting tables by the windows and the presence of two restaurants sharing the same room felt odd at first but gave a good extension to the eating experience. There are speciality restaurants but we only tried one - the dining club. This was very good, our waiter even played the piano at the end. We also went there for the Musical Afternoon Tea. This only happens once a week and is well worth booking as soon as you can. The afternoon tea was up there with the best, it is not, however, just the food - it is an experience with music and surprises.

Cabin Review

The first time we went on this ship we were in an inside cabin - the junior suite is so much better. On the positives you get space, a bath, a big balcony, a large bottle of water every day, a pressing of clothes in the first 24 hours and a coffee machine. On the down side the bathroom looked tired and if you are 6 foot the shower feels cramped as the ceiling is low and you are stood in the bath. You do get 1 room service breakfast but it is very limited and the coffee is 2 packs of nescafe and some hot water - meanwhile the buffet and restaurant breakfasts are easy and good.
