This summer we decided not to go very far from home, so choosing a cruise departing from Stockholm did sound like a great idea since we live only a short subway ride away from the port.
Royal Caribbean and Voyager of the Seas was acutually my very first cruise line and ship almost 15 years ago and I remember it as a mixed experience. Now with almost 20 cruises done since then and arround 8 of them with Royal Caribbean i looked forward to visit the place where it all started.
Since the renovation of Voyager i think they did a few mistakes, the spa and fitness center for example is the major bad change. Overall the ship looks OK, some places are really dated some nicly refurbished. The main issue with the ship is the flow of people, the lack of nice places to sit and relax.
We stayed in stateroom 1152, in one of the new front facing balconies right where the spa and fitness center used to be.
The room looks fresh and feels like being in something designed by IKEA. Our stateroom attendant did everything he could to make us feel like home.
The main issue must be the balcony and the lack of any visual "contact" with the sea. The balcony is huge but feels more like a enclosed school yard than a place to sit and relax. There is no view at all when you sit down, except for the sky.
And the owean view staterooms on deck 12 have a perfect view down on you when you are outside. I wouldn't recommend this room.
