Our Rhine River Getaway had every amenity possible and the added touches of the staff and crew were simply top notch.

We cruised in an Explorer Suite from March 27, 2022 to Apr 3, 2022. The food was expertly prepared at each meal. The choices of local cuisine at each port we also so tasty that I tried each one. I also recommend the Silver Spirits Beverage package as it allows for many choices of wine and cocktails. We enjoyed the variety of excursions offered as well. Each excursion brought its own unique experience that we found to not only be exciting but educational and emotionally charged. The history and elegance of the cities we visited were truly amazing. From the dairy farm in Amsterdam to the cathedral in Strasbourg France and everything in between, we enjoyed all this trip had to offer. The absolute best experience was the E-Bike tour of the Black Forest in Germany. The day started with 35mph winds and snow blowing sideways! Even though many of the other guests had cancelled we decided to forge ahead with the day. We geared up with heavy boots and jackets and hats and gloves and headed down a trail that took us through the deep forest, cobblestone streets of small villages, a lovely pastry shop that had actual Black Forest cake (which was a really nice breakfast treat with coffee) and then into the hills. We traveled up the side of mountain to see an original log cabin from 1752 that had many original rooms with the antique belongings of that time period. The owners graciously opened their home to us and served us cheese and bread. We even bought some of their homemade honey schnapps. I had never tasted anything quite like it before. Nor did I ever imagine biking 26 miles in a snowstorm! It was certainly a once-in-a-lifetime experience that I cherish. Our journey ended in Basel, Switzerland where we were shuttled to Lucerne for our two day trip extension. My husband and I had got engaged in Lucerne four years before and we were so excited to revisit the city. Our hotel stay was equally as opulent as our Explorer Suite on the Baldur. We are booking our next Viking river cruise as I write this review. I cannot say enough great things about this CruiseLine, the people and the destinations.
