My family has been through a lot the past 18 months and hadn’t been on vacation together since June of 2020. When the opportunity for a short affordable local trip caught my eye, I couldn’t resist. Our prior cruises and points of comparison were on the Norwegian Pearl and the MS Westerdam. We had a great time (two adults, two teens) on Radiance for four nights. We had two ocean view cabins on 2. There was plenty of space and the beds were comfortable. One teen took advantage of the teen program and made some friends. The other is more introverted and stayed with us. The ship was clean and service was good. Seiki in the piano bar was great. Deon the cruise director and Momo on his staff were a lot of fun. Our only real complaint is the food availability and variety, particularly at dinner time, when the burgers, chicken, and taco place are all closed. Also, both kids are vegetarian and they didn’t have a lot of options at dinner. There was always a long line for pizza and the deli, and the buffet choices were meh. We did have two nice dinners at the Sunset restaurant, although the portions were small. The buffet was great at breakfast. For lunch, Shaq’s, Guy’s, and the taco place were great. Ultimately this was an affordable and fun short family vacation for us.
