My wife and I took this as a "makeup" cruise for our 5 year anniversary, which was supposed to be a week aboard the Encore back in January. Unfortunately we got COVID three days before embarkation. Long story short, we were able to squeeze this shorter cruise aboard the Sky. We are first time cruisers, so keep in mind this review comes from someone who has not seen all the bells and whistles of the larger or newer ships. That being said, this cruise ensured that we will be cruisers with Norwegian for many years to come!

Embarkation:

Starting from the beginning, we knew were in for something special. Embarkation was an absolute breeze. We arrived at 10:00, and boarding started around 11:00. The new NCL terminal is incredible and the staff had it organized to a T. We did a quick muster drill with an assigned crew member and were then on our way.

Cabin Review

Mid-Ship Oceanview Porthole Window

I did a last minute "upgrade" from inside stateroom to porthole ocean view for the minimum price, which felt like a steal! The room was the size of a smaller hotel room, but had plenty of storage space as well as under the bed. The shower had incredible water pressure and always had hot water; a pleasant surprise for a first time cruiser. Its not a super large space, but we didn't care as we literally only spent time in the cabin at night, as we were too busy having fun throughout the day. I found the porthole to be totally worth it to catch an occasional view and have an easier time waking up. I didn't feel I missed out not having a balcony on a shorter trip like this

Port Reviews

Freeport

Do yourself a favor, and book a trip to Paradise Cove / Deadman reef. The snorkeling is out of this world. We saw sea turtles everywhere, stingray, coral, dozens of fish species, etc. It is not an excursion offered by NCL, and as a result is significantly cheaper ($50 a person).

Great Stirrup Cay

Amazing private island. When you get off the ship, walk down the beach past the lighthouse. Almost no one seemed to head that way, and there is a dedicated Lighthouse bar there and food truck. It is so peaceful.
