When I saw the 25th Anniversary Promotion for included international airfare and silver spirits it was a win win. We went on the Rhine from Amsterdam to Basel, SW. We were further pleased that we could fly out our nearest airport and not have to drive to Charlotte or Atlanta.

From our first boarding to end we were pleased to meet many wonderful people from fellow travelers to crew officers and staff. On first entering and having a buffet lunch we met a mother and daughter traveling also on their first Viking cruise. We continued several meals and excursions together. We further met several other couples for meals and adventures.

Unfortunately the Rhine and other rivers throughout Europe are at low levels. Prior to the cruise we received an email saying that it would be possible for the cruise to be affected. Well it happened, we ended up transferred to another ship Gymir (which should have been our ship from the start, we were on Edgir). In between that a low area of the river we boarded another ship for a lunch, drinks and heat. Oh yes, record temperatures of about 100 f. Another shipboard of passengers also joined us from Viking Modi.

Cabin Review

Small, but efficient and neat.
