This was the first cruise for my wife, the second for me, and it was everything we had hoped it would be. The pre-cruise extension to Oberammergau for the Passion Play was excellent. The only wrinkle was beyond Viking's control-100 degree weather and no air conditioning in the hotel in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. The play itself was spectacular.

The staff was outstanding, friendly and personable. The size of the ship was perfect, holding about 185 guests. The food was delicious, focusing on local area dishes.

The excursions were well planned and organized, with each group associated with a color coded bus. The number of people on each excursion was manageable. One of our favorite excursions was to the winery in the Wachau Valley that supplies the wine to Viking. We met Earhardt, the owner and he made the tour and tasting a lot of fun.

Deluxe Stateroom

The bed was comfortable. The shower was very small, but I'm sure that was a function of our entry level stateroom. It was kept very clean by the housekeeper. We didn't spend much time in the cabin other than to sleep.
