We took a Viking cruise on the Rhine River and had a marvelous time. Several years passed before we could take another Viking cruise. So this year we cruised the Danube. It was a wonderful cruise; there were interesting tours available at each port. Viking does an outstanding job of providing interesting tours, wonderful tour guides from the local area, transportation when needed... one can travel with ease and feel well taken care of. The food on board was outstanding. Each day we were treated with a varied menu but also offering some local dishes.
Evening in the lounge were loads of fun... some local talent was provided on certain evenings, games on other evenings, but always filled with music and laughter. We met so many awesome people that helped make our trip even more memorable.
The Viking staff are all professional and friendly... always willing to make your cruise comfortable and special.
Our room had a balcony which we truly enjoyed; however, at times another Viking boat was anchored next to us preventing us from using our balcony.
The room was kept clean and well stocked with water and toiletries. Our room attendant was very conscientious and professional.
Enjoyed the morning tour of Buda and Pest... in the afternoon watched a performance by the Hungarian Horsemen. The show was very entertaining and worth the trip.
Took the Panoramic Bratislava tour; had a wonderful local guide who provided so much interesting information about life as a teenager under communist rule and the freedom she enjoys today.
Took the Panoramic tour of Vienna; Behind the scenes of Lipizzaner Stallions... both were interesting and fun. The tour descriptions were accurate in their detail. The Heurigen Evening was okay; liked the fact we visited a family owned restaurant. Music was provided by local musicians. We might have enjoyed it more if we had been seated outside, but it was still fun.
The Gottweig Abbey was a real delight. Church was underway so couldn't take pictures inside the church. It was well worth visiting this active Abbey.
Visited Cesky Krumlov Castle in the Czech Republic. Like stepping back in time with this castle and fairy-tale like town. Lots of little shops and places to eat and drink. Had lunch at a local restaurant which was delightful... lunch was arranged by Viking. Good all-day trip.
Nice leisurely tour of Passau. Lots of history with the merging of the three rivers. Very clean and well preserved town. We stopped at a local eatery close to the river; had a bit of a language problem but managed.
