We had never been on a river cruise or to the Pacific Northwest before. We had been on 2 or 3 ocean cruises before and wanted to compare with a river cruise. The American Song was very modern and nice with a variety of both large and small lounges. The dining room was large and clean. The staff and personnel were very friendly and efficient. We had a vivacious cruise director (Olivia) and efficient excursion directors (Kendra and Gary). The excursion drivers and guides were helpful and knowledgeable. There were numerous excursions offered almost every day (one day was river cruising only). The museums that were included were all very nice, especially the Maryhill Art Museum. The trips to Multnomah Falls and Mt. St. Helens were particularly exciting. The food was excellent with a good variety of appetizers, seafood (my preference), chicken or pork, and beef. The huckleberry ice cream was novel and tasty. The servers were friendly and efficient, but the dining room was slow sometimes. The historian (Jim) was very knowledgeable and gave us a great overview of the Lewis and Clark expedition. The evening entertainment (Ron, Kevin, Bo and Dave) were musically excellent and very funny. We certainly plan to cruise with American Cruise Lines again in the future.

Cabin Review

Adequate size and efficient layout. Housekeeping kept the room clean with an evening turn-down service. Chocolate strawberries and sparkling wine were given on the evening we celebrated our anniversary.
