Cabin: Balcony

We chose this cruise for the itinerary and to travel with good friends. While the overall ship is fine, the "upgraded" balcony cabins are woefully inadequate. The bathroom is very small and the shower is cramped (even for a 5'4" 140lb female!) While the cabin is obviously for 2 people, it has only 1 chair so someone has to sit on the bed. The one positive was our cabin steward who was awesome.

The dining experience also had issues. Their "dine your way" means having to wait for a table and made to feel like a second class citizen. The food was merely okay and other than 2 waiters, the staff was far from top notch. Dinner one night took over 2 1/2 hours! It also seemed odd that the recommended wine pairing with each dinner was only available as a bottle rather than by the glass.

Two ports of call were missed due to weather which is understandable in the North Sea. Backup plans would have been nice rather than 2 extra days at sea.

Port Reviews

Newcastle (England)

Dock is far from town requiring a bus to the train station.

Alesund

A very neat Norwegian city with breathtaking views.

Reykjavik

More time here would have been really nice as there is too much to see and do in 1 day.
