This is our 5th cruise, 1st one with NCL. It will be our last. The ship itself is clean, small (which we knew). The lack of activities was very apparent immediately. The cruise director was the worst one we have ever had. Barely saw him, he had a lack of enthusiasm - unless you like to hear him talk about how fat he is. Other than trivia, the games/activities were nursing home quality. Even the host for the trivia games were flatline. Don't get me started about the ports of call, the time we arrived, the length of stay or even where they docked us. Talk about feeling like we missed out! What's there to do in Juneau or Ketchikan at 6:00 am - when you only have 4 hours. Ruined our trip. Victoria BC, docked at 9:30 p.m, had to pay for our own shuttle to town IF we wanted to go and back on the ship at 11:30. WHAT??? We ended up walking around a residential area. Such a let down. Can't recommend it. Thankfully we had a unlimited drink package.

Cabin Review

Family Balcony

The balcony was great - last minute upgrade for 75.00. Good thing we had a balcony because we spent more time in our cabin looking out the door (the weather was terrible - no one's fault) because of the lack of activities and the times we were in port and then had to leave by 1 pm.

Port Reviews

Ketchikan

Ketchikan was fabulous. The port where the ship docked (owned by NCL) was an abandoned paper mill that looked like it and then a 20 minute shuttle ride into Ketchikan. When we got there 4 ships from other cruise lines were docked right in town. People were having a great time - our time was short. Got there about 7 am and back on the ship (after a 20 minute bus ride back to the abandoned paper mill) by noon. So sad.....

Juneau

Docked at 6 AM!!! Nothing open except jewelry stores and a coffee shop. Nothing else to do. By the time we had to be on the ship at 12:30, after things were open and other ships arrived, we had to leave. So disappointing. Mendenhall Glacier itself was great!

Icy Strait

Stayed here the longest. 8 hours - not much to do at all. It seems like NCL is trying to make this their port?? Shuttle into Hoonah. Walked around, nothing to do and went back to the dock. Big gift shop and a restaurant/bar. Looked like the zip ride was fun - but expensive. Had to take a tram from the ship to the gift shop/bar area.
