Sail Date: Jul 2022
Cabin: Mid-ship Balcony Stateroom

This was our 2nd trip to Alaska on NCL (7th cruise on NCL in the last 7 years). The first time to Alaska was in 2015 with our 2 younger kids. This time, It was just me and the wife. We chose the Encore due to the similarities to the other NCL ships we have sailed (Joy, Escape, etc).

The weather was beautiful and only rained one morning the entire time. Otherwise- it maintained 50-64 degrees and partly sunny. We have been to each of the ports before (Skagway, Juneau, Ketchikan, Victoria, Glacier Bay), so we were prepared.

The cabin was great (see below). The staff were once again remarkable. It is hard to get a waiter, cabin steward, or other employee to say no. Special food order? "sure, we can do that." I really like the shrimp and steak- how do I choose? "We bring them both sir. You enjoy dinner" Can I get a vase with water for our flowers we brought on from Seattle? "No problem- I'll make a call." Every request was graciously answered with a "yes".

Cabin Review

Mid-ship Balcony Stateroom

We had a mid-ship (toward the aft) balcony. It was a great roomy cabin with plenty of storage. Here is a free hint to you- specifically choose a balcony at one of the angles (where the ship pushes out/in). The angle gives you a 50% larger balcony than a regular Balcony room. It is large enough for 2 pool loungers (and you can request the loungers). There is no upcharge- you just have to find it available and request it.
