My husband and I were onboard Viking Mars on June 25. It was a 14-night itinerary that went from London, Scotland, and ending in Bergen, Norway. We’ve always wanted to take this itinerary and it did NOT disappoint! It has history, culture, and witnessing a natural phenomenon of the sun that never set below the horizon in 24 hours. This only happens between May and July in the Arctic Circle, so the window to see this is very narrow. We saw similar phenomena in Antarctica Peninsula in January when we were onboard Viking Octantis. You never get tired of watching nature in all its glory!

Mars is the newest Viking ocean ship that was launched in May 2022. All the Viking ocean ships have the same design and layout. The only difference is in the ship’s name.

Our stateroom was located on the 8th deck. Most of the staterooms on this floor are Penthouse Jr Suites, but there are a few Deluxe Verandas (smaller rooms) on this floor. Ours is a Deluxe Veranda. The space was bit tight, but it was good enough for us. This floor is our favorite because there is door that connects to the Explorers’ Lounge. It was very convenient to get our drinks and decide whether or not to sit at the lounge or to go back to our stateroom.

Deluxe Veranda Stateroom

Deluxe Veranda stateroom was very comfortable. The bathroom had heated floor and all the necessary amenities.. Mini fridge had complimentary drinks and snacks.
