We had to cancel a Viking Alaskan Cruise due to health issues and found a suite available on this ACL New England cruise. We were disappointed and left the ship early. August is a bad time for Maine. It was too hot to enjoy off ship excursions. A fall or spring trip might be a better choice. The ship itself, I believe, is about 5 years old. We had trouble with our balcony door lock. We weren't concerned with an outside break-in, but there is nothing worse during heavy seas than to have your balcony door slamming open and shut! I wouldn't call the ship dingy, but it was not the elegance we expected.
The food and food service was excellent. Housekeeping was inconsistent: no towels until late afternoon some days, no hand towels refreshed another day. Housekeeper was on her phone while working. We had to tender at one port. The printed tender schedule was a joke with no reality. My spouse left me to take a couple pictures while I got onto the tender craft which was scheduled to leave in 15 minutes. It left almost immediately and my spouse got back on board over an hour later with the half hour schedule.
Don't know if the ship was understaffed or the ship's passenger operation was poorly planned.
