Having only been on one other river cruise , aboard a Croisi Europe Rhône Cruises last fall, we were anxious to finally set sail on a Viking River voyage.It met and usually exceeded all expectations.
The vessel was spotless, the crew all very professional and always courteous, shore trips were all well organized. The food was of an excellent quality, perfectly prepared. The soups were fabulous and so were the execution of all salads. The crème caramel and chocolate mousse desserts were always the equal of any Restaurant in France. We spent almost all of our waking time in the rocking chairs on the Aquavit Terrace and ate all our meals outside there at a table for 2 unless it was raining. Even breakfast, not a meal we usually enjoy , was superb.
The hardware and furnishings are all of very high quality , the china and the dining utensils were all by Villeroy &Boch and the wine glasses , of an elegant design by Schott /Wiesel.
Cabin Review
Deluxe Stateroom
Small but compact water level cabin. Wonderful shower , huge bath towels, all kept in perfect condition by our wonderful stewardess. There is no place to sit and relax other than on the bed but with such fabulous scenery who is spending time in the cabin. Most of the sailing was done at night .
Daytime was spent ashore touring or on the AquavitTerrace . Many days were were tied up between 2 other Viking river boats so there would be nothing to see from a cabin with a balcony or a large window, other than the passengers in their room on the adjoining boat. Simply would be a waste of money in our opinion.
