We boarded Solstice with a group and looked forward to an amazing trip. While Alaska was fantastic, the ship was hardly adequate and there was little concern about service and food. We should have known it was an omen when we checked in at the pier for our Concierge Suite. The kid checking us in knew little about how to go about it. He NEVER asked for our negative Covid test and when I asked if he needed it, he said NO. When I realized that they DID need it, we were already seated after he said we were checked in. I went to a supervisor and asked him and he had another person look to see and we were NOT checked in. He freaked out when I said we had not been asked for our Covid test. Another supervisor came back and told us later she had fired the check in person! We boarded and put our bags in our room. We went to the Oceanview cafe where we were suprised to see people grabbing food with their hands! The ship was no longer serving as they had been, but let people take their own food. Seeing fingers in the salad was a turnoff. There were no berries for breakfast, pastries were stale, it was crowded with no seating. When we got back to the cabin, our steward came and introduced himself and put down a card saying there was a special Concierge lunch from 12-2. It was 2:30, a little late to inform us. During the week, we had poor cabin service. We ran out of toilet paper, kleenex, had to beg three times for water, he did not deliver ice on time and he left trash in the cans. We found other peoples’ clothes in our drawers. We were scheduled to have a seminar for our group. Apparently the Events Coordinator could not have cared less. The meeting room was not set up and a number of the group people had to scramble to set up tables and chairs as had been requested through corporate and with The Events Coordinator face to face. She did not answer her phone after five calls, nor did the concierge desk or guest services. She finally came into the room, screamed at the organizers, and left. We were left to our own devices. One of our attendees came with two grandchildren and her sister. While she was on a group excursion, her sister and the two boys were to go zip lining. Well, shore excursions cancelled out just one of the boys. He had booked, paid and was confirmed. When we pleaded with the shore excursion desk person to not leave a child unattended, the manager said there was nothing he could do. He said they were overbooked. Leaving a child alone was a liability but he refused to refund the other’s money for their excursions. He said he could not tell it was a child, but children pay a lesser price, so he lied to us. We had to arrange for one child to stay on the ship while he watched his brother leave to go zip lining. Another guest went on a Celebrity whale watching cruise in Victoria. Their boat broke down and they were floating in the rain in the ocean for an hour before another boat came to tow them in. They barely made it back to the ship in time. Food in the dining room was so much reduced and of lesser quality than past Celebrity cruises. Portions were miniscule and cuts of meat were cheap and tough. Duck arrived greasy and over cooked. Steak ordered rare for an extra $18 in Tuscan Grill came out well done. Chicken Parm arrived cold. All this for $55 pp! Three nights we could not find anything to eat on the entree menu. So we ate salad and soup for dinner three nights. The only good thing in the dining room was our server Listera. She was fabulous. Wifi did not work well and was non existant most days. We could not keep in touch with anyone on a reliable basis. The cabin had only 2 electric plugs in the entire space. No USB ports. It was impossible to charge all devices. The hair dryer had to be carried all the way across the cabin to use it. We bought a power strip in port and, although it had a safety feature, it was confiscated. Three group members used a cpap machine and their pre-ordered distilled water did not arrive, so they got sick. People were coughing continuously around the ship. No masks were worn anywhere, even in the theater when the daily program said they were required. The speaker, Brent Nixon was outstanding, one of the best we ever had. We got extremely close to Dawes Glacier, which calved while we were there. Alaska is still beautiful, but Celebrity really let us down.

Cabin Review

Concierge Class 3

Concierge cabin had only two plugs! Not near enough to charge devices and use hair dryer. Storage was awkward to get to.
