We are 4 times cruisers with SilverSea and have cruised with other lines. After all the lockdowns and travel restrictions over the last years, we were very much looking forward to our 5th cruise on the Silver Wind. Sadly, this will be our last cruise with SilverSea. It is difficult to know where to start. If you want to read on, grab a tea or coffee before you start:

- Embarkation – the process was not too bad once the Covid protocols where finished. It was not a good sign though that the crew (who had already done a previous leg) seemed to have no clue what the Covid process was. Talking of Covid, not once did anyone mention there were passengers on board with Covid (we discovered that by accident much later) much less that as a consequence it might be a good idea to wear masks in public places when not eating or drinking. We didn’t expect crew to act as enforcement police but it is not too much to ask, they reinforce basic public health measures by announcement from time to time (eg at evening briefings)

- Expedition Cruise(?)– as one passenger remarked, this was not an ‘expedition cruise’ as advertised but actually a ‘re-positioning cruise’. Lip service was paid to usual ‘expedition’ cruising activities. Yes, there would be expedition staff on watch from time to time but no announcements were made of wildlife sightings until after the fact at evening briefings.
