After a wonderful river cruise in 2019, we decided then to travel with Viking again. We found the itinerary for this ocean cruise perfect. Unfortunately, the Covid pandemic and surgery, caused the cruise to be postponed twice for us. The year 2022 proved to be the charm especially with a planned stop in Zadar, Croatia because as with the luck of genealogy searches, family trees, and DNA matches, we were lead to my grandfather's homestead in Privlaka, only 30 minutes from the port in Zadar. We spent the day visiting relatives, eating Dalmatian food, meeting my cousin the major and walking the grounds where my grandfather lived his early years. This day was a gift that this ocean cruise made possible. Viking provided us with the opportunity to do this. One of the most wonderful things about having these opportunities that Viking cruises provide is to make the world a bit closer and to provide platforms to realizing the humanity in all people.
Of course, the food on the cruise was amazing and the service impeccable. The gelato would win rave reviews. All our meals were served by pleasant and professional people who not only were proud of their Viking responsibilities but shared stories of their homelands as well. The variety of offerings and the freshness was again above and beyond.
The evening entertainment was so enjoyable and the highlight was the music of ABBA. The weather was perfect, the seas calm, the tour guides well versed and so helpful in providing history and their own sense of humor.
Spacious, comfortable, very clean, and quiet. The staff was more than attentive, and the view was superb.
