This was our first cruise since the onset of Covid. We are platinum level Princess passengers and it was our 3rd Alaskan Cruise. We booked this cruise on the Majestic Princess mainly to use our on board credits that we received when our last cruise in February 2020 was cancelled early due to Noro virus. The credits would have expired by end of 2022. We requested our credits be extended into 2023 when we would be more comfortable to begin cruising again, but were denied. We were not pleased with the inflexibility of Princess regarding onboard cruise credits.
Overall the cruise was enjoyable, but we did not feel it was par with pre-covid cruises. The ship was definitely not full and seemed quiet with less enthusiasm than usual and fewer Alaskan themed activities than on our previous cruises. The dining and cabin staff went above and beyond to make our cruise as enjoyable as possible. Despite earlier reviews that I read, we enjoyed the dining venues, menu and food. Our cabin was comfortable, very clean and our room steward was excellent.
Unfortunately, we were unable to dock in Skagway due to the continuing problems with the damaged pier/rock slide. That was the only port where we had booked a private tour and we were excited to travel into the Yukon. Alternatively, the captain docked the ship in Icy Straits which was ok, but definitely not what we had hoped for.
