Traveled with children

Went on Mariner of the Seas, 5 nights to Labadee and Coco Cay. Frequent cruisers but first time after just one on Royal Caribbean years ago. Was multi-generational trip including first cruise for 7 and 9 year old granddaughters. Selected this trip as two great ports and activities on ship and adjourning promenade rooms for 4 family members. Enjoyed the ports and would return to both private islands. Had hoped this cruise would confirm that Royal Caribbean would be our go to cruise line for future family cruises but as much as we did enjoy the cruise it didn’t “wow” us enough to exclusively cruise Royal Caribbean as had hoped. I have summarized the good, the not so good, and lessons learned from this cruise.

-- Loved having the Key as gave us priority boarding, 15 minute embarkation vs 2 hours waiting in line especially with the children. The Key lunch was excellent and it was great to be able to pass on the first day buffet madness. Debarkation was excellent, the easiest of any previous cruise on other lines. The easy departure also enabled us to quickly pass though immigration with the children having just birth certificates, maybe 2-3 minutes which was nice after reading reviews of the long lines.

- Ship was very nice, easy to get around, nice cabins and offered enough to do.
