This was our first time with Princess . We have previously been on cruises with P&O, ROYAL CARIBBEAN , NCL and MSC.
On the whole we were very impressed
There were a few slight negatives
We had booked an excursion via princess to Sorrento with wine tasting (we would not have been able to do this ourselves ) the excursion was one of the best we have ever done
We had about 2 hours in Sorrento ,then to a limoncello factory and then a late lunch with wine (even though it was described as only a snack!!
We opted to just walk into town to the main shops the easiest way is to turn right after being dropped off by the port authority bus, it is about a 15 minute walk past the harbour to the taxi rank then left turn up 25is avgoustou which is the main shopping street
Again nice place to look around
Kusadasi as the ship arrived very early and left early afternoon
We did not feel comfortable about trying to book anything with princess or privately so just walked into the town
( plenty of shops selling genuine fakes!)
If you are even remotely thinking of purchasing anything do some research beforehand to find out the going rate otherwise you will pay over the odds
Quite a pleasant area to walk around
In Istanbul you will dock in the new galataport which is semi underground (a bit of a walk to the exit) you will then emerge into a very hip and trendy area with loads of bars, restaurants and shops.
(it did Seem to be a bit confusing) if you walk to the left and aim for the front by the bosphorus it is possible to walk along by the river towards the city of Istanbul. ( when we visited there was another part of the galataport that was not open yet so you had to detour around it )
Seemed to be a lack of signage saying this !!
Once you are back by the river after a short walk you will come across a busy local ferry terminal a little further along you will come to the galata bridge which is an interesting concept.
We were aiming for karakoy (turyol) which is a local ferry stop but offers a bosphorus cruise see attached picture ( this seemed to be the one the locals used ) we thoroughly enjoyed the cruise very informative and took about an hour and ¾ and returned us back to where we got on .
We then opted to go across the galata bridge. We noted that the traffic was almost at a standstill so bare this in mind if you are planning a trip .
We eventually found the spice bazaar which was definitely an experience but ridiculously busy.
So to sum up istanbul is a fascinating city but give yourself plenty of time to get to places
The port of mykonos is actually about 15 minutes from mykonos town as the port is on the smaller side and we were a large ship we were tended in via the local boats but to complicate things it was very windy so it took quite a while to actually get into mykonos town
Mykonos town is a hip and trendy place with loads of bars, restaurants and shops but prices to match!!!
Nice picturesque place to wander around
