Our Alaska cruise to Glacier Bay via the Norwegian Pearl was everything we anticipated it would be, wonderful scenery, great wildlife, romance, and relaxation.

We flew into Seattle and took a taxi to the cruise terminal. We arrived a little too early, but were able to check our bags and have breakfast at the nearby Pike's Market. Check-in was extremely easy and we found ourselves on the Pearl shortly after noon. After getting the lay of the ship, we went to the Spinnaker Lounge for a drink and a place to sit. There we met Joel, a server who learned our names and gave us special attention throughout the rest of the cruise. He advised us on some of the cruise must-knows and also told us about his home country.

Cabin Our cabin was a balcony, starboard, which turned out to be a wonderful side of the ship to be on throughout the cruise. Our standard balcony cabin was plenty large for the two of us. Our steward was responsive throughout the cruise. When I asked that we be stocked with three towels, he made sure that happened for the rest of the trip. The balcony was very nice, but I wish it was possible to request a room in a non-smoking area. Although there was no evidence of previous smokers in the room, every time our neighbor lit a cigarette, we would have to close our door lest the fumes smoke us out. The cabins are well designed with plenty of storage. It's surprising how much storage really is in these very small rooms.
