Sail Date: Jul 2022

We booked this cruise for July 2020 but due to the Covid-19 epidemic, it became July 2022. Us and our friends in Sweden have been very much looking forwards this trip and finally it happened. Our friends chose the cruise and booked the whole thing. We had never heard of Hutigruten but they knew others that have done this cruise before. We are very happy with the choice. We enjoyed it very much. The scenery was of course spectacular as we expected but the trip was very pleasant. The boat was nicely decorated and comfortable. There were interesting lectures on board, the explorer team was very helpful and really seemed to have made an effort to provide the passengers with well structured, well presented and interesting lectures. As my daughter pointed out, she was wondering what she would do all that time in a boat but she did not have time to get bored! Me neither. The meals were very good, the personnel in the restaurant very friendly. It make the trip even more pleasant. The only negative experience was the excursion to the Cap Nord. It was supposed to the the highlight of the excursions but it was really bad. The guide seemed to be a very sweet woman but none of us could understand her. We were not able to figure out when she was speaking German or English or was it a mixture? In the few times we understood a few words, the information was irrelevant. How could a person having so few knowledge of English could be hired as a guide? I was glad I know French, I could at least follow the stories Patrick was telling. On the top of it, the breakfast was nothing special (why putting the accent of the excursion on breakfast? it created wrong expectations). Maybe because we could not understand the guide, we were not aware of all we could do at the cap, or that the shop was closed at arrival. We wanted to see the movie session there. First we were too early, thus we went for a little walk, came back a few minutes after the start and could not enter! why were we not told that we had to be exactly on time?!

Cabin Review

It was no luxury cabin, we did not choose for that. It was comfortable enough.
