We chose a 10-day combined cruise/land tour - 7 days on the ship with 3-days on land. Our trip was CA3 - two nights in Denali, one night in Fairbanks. The cruise itself was wonderful. Be sure to get a balcony room. It's the only way to get a view of the glaciers. The captain did a great job of floating us into the fjord. The glaciers are SPECTACULAR. The food was average at first but by the third night it was fantastic. Service was off the charts. We followed all of the directions in terms of documentation and setting up the Medallion so embarking was a total piece of cake as was disembarkation. The Medallion made things easier for everything we did on the ship - unlocked our stateroom door (great when our hands were full of drinks ;) ), checking-in for dinner, ordering food on board, ordering drinks, getting on/off the ship. The organization of our luggage was impressive. It was delivered to our room promptly, picked up right away and made it to our land tour without issue. I highly recommend the cruise (but would avoid the land tour - total waste of money).
Cabin was fantastic! We had a balcony room, large enough for two chairs and a small table. If you are going to Alaska a balcony room is a must. It's the best way to get great views of the glaciers.
Stunning views
Crab feed, rain forest walk. Crab was excellent but check what time your meal will be served. Ours was at 10 am, right after we ate breakfast. Rain forest walk was blah, not worth the money.
We didn't take a tour through Princess. We listened to one of the speakers on the ship who told us to take the public bus ($2 per person each way, about 45 minutes) and walked to the Medenhall Glacier on our own.
We took a mini bus tour up to the Klondike Summit. Tour guide was spectacular
