I just finished my trip on the Countess. First positive: very nice boat, great cruise and assistant cruise directors who also provided great entertainment. Negatives: We were told there would be COVID testing before the cruise. Upon arriving at check-in we were informed no testing would be done. This information should have been provided before cruise. The steering went out on the boat the first night so a tugboat pushed us down the Mississippi and we missed several ports. The fire alarm went off around midnight the second night, with no explanation to guests as to whether it was a false alarm. We could not reach our final port of St. Louis, so we were bused 4 hours ( beginning at 6 am) to that city where they cancelled our city tour. One day before we docked, 22+ people were taken off the ship due to COVID infection. The rest of the passengers were never informed of this problem so were not encouraged to mask up. We were offered 50% off a future cruise with the fine print of applying this credit according to what you had paid for the current cruise. The Captain said it best on the last night “I’m glad this week is over!” I would not recommend this boat to those looking for a stress free vacation.
