As we were searching for a river cruise in this region I discovered the AmaMagna. As the largest cruise boat on the river the public spaces aboard were larger and the top deck double the size of most boats. The gym looked incredible and the fact that they offered a wellness host, bikes at every stop and activities from gentle to active were all plusses.

The ship did not disappoint. It was incredible. The rooms were well appointed and most had balconies. The gym was awesome and had a rower, two treadmills, a bike inside, weights, a techno-gym cable system and four bikes on the "back porch" of the gym outside. Nice. One of our favorite workouts was riding a stationary bike as we transited a lock.

The food and staff were completely on point with only a few little things that I would have preferred like more salads. It was always hot and plentiful. There are four places to eat on board, the main dining room, the Al Fresco, the Chef's Table and Jimmy's Wine Bar. We ate at all and enjoyed each. Dinner always included a local red and a local white wine or a California red or white. Beer was also included. You could pay extra to get better drinks if you wished at about $3 per drink.
