This was our third Emerald cruise and probably the most enchanting; the Douro valley is so beautiful and serene. After our first river cruise we decided that it would be impossible to improve on the Emerald experience; the welcome to the ship was enthusiastic, the departure was heartfelt. The crew, the food, the standard of cleanliness were all outstanding; the off-boat excursions were interesting, informative and very well organised. The local guides were most knowledgeable and enthusiastic were quite rightly very proud of their beautiful country. The tour of Salamanca was very special and certainly justified its name of "the golden city", amazing architecture and history. In addition to the superb on-board food we developed a taste for the local port and delicious custard tarts, so much so that we arrived as passengers and left as cargo! The diet starts now.

We cannot wait for our next adventure with Emerald

Cabin Review

Space understandably quite restricted but excellent views from the large windows which opened at the touch of a button. The staff responsible for cleanliness were excellent.
