Sail Date: Jul 2022

This was our 5th Carnival cruise and our first time on Freedom. We knew going in what to expect with the ship age and size. No surprises there.

First the cabin... Ronald our room steward was great! Our interior room (9215) was clean but dated. The fridge didn't work, as with most rooms, from what I've heard, which was disappointing. I usually bring a collapsible cooler bit didn't this time. I wont make that mistake again. Bed was very comfortable and a/c was just ok.

Food....Long lines everywhere. Terribly understaffed at Guys burger, deli, pizza etc. min 20-30 min wait times. Buffet had minimum selection compared to other ships I've sailed. We ate most meals in MDR (breakfast/dinner) checking in with the Hub app which was very convenient. Staff was awesome, food was just okay and wait time was slow at times. Menu selection was nice.

Port Reviews

Amber Cove (Puerto Plata)

Only got off for this tour which was disappointing.

Mountain Views & City Sights.

Tour guide very difficult to understand. Was on his phone most of the time. Transportation was loud, windy and very bumpy. Caution if you have a bad back. The view is nice but a lot of stairs and inclines to walk. Several in our party had to wait at the bus. City tour is a joke. They take you to their shop to buy. No free walking. More standing to hear their sales pitch. Tour guide said unsafe to shop without him. Couldn’t wait to get back to port.
