We booked this cruise well over a year before it left. The primary reason we chose this cruise was the stop in St Petersburg, Russia. Of course that was cancelled and while we considered canceling our trip as well, we didn't and I am so glad we didn't. While we were disappointed in the loss of that port I think that the itinerary was made up with the addition of Germany and Poland. While I do agree with another reviewer that complained about the fact that 2 days at sea was a little much given that the ship was barely moving and we did go around in circles, I would have liked at least one other port, there certainly was time for it.

Now there was only 1200 approx. people on board and it was wonderful that it was never crowded. You could always find a seat in the buffet, show or whatever. The food was mostly good, there were a few misses but that could happen in any restaurant honestly. The service was wonderful, we certainly had no complaints. We were in a aft facing mini-suite. I loved the size of the room however I really didn't enjoy the view of the super structure on the back, I certainly don't understand what the architect was thinking when they designed the ship this way, they could have added several more rooms or at least made better use of the space. Now Voyager is an older ship now and yes there are some things that need to be looked at or refreshed. For example, in our stateroom there was a drawer that would not stay closed when the ship was moving. There were some framed prints in the room where the mattes had come apart in the frame and looked rather tacky. The bathroom could certainly use a refresh but I will say that you cannot beat the amount of storage available in that room.

Was the cruise perfect? no of course not, the entertainment (production shows and guest headliners) were questionable however, it was a cruise and basically any cruise is wonderful.

Port Reviews

Berlin

Took a full day tour to Berlin, went through a 3rd party company as it was much cheaper than RCCL. While it was a long drive it was a wonderful tour and had an amazing guide who was knowledgeable and entertaining. While I would have loved St Petersburg This was a great replacement given the circumstances.

Helsinki

Absolutely beautiful, didn't do a ship sponsored tour but did take one of the harbor, was very informative and entertaining. You do need to use the ships shuttles as the ship is docked really far from town.

Riga

Ship was docked over 10km from old Riga. We took a ship sponsored city tour, it was terrible, so bad I complained to the excursions desk. The city itself was interesting but had a very different vibe than the other cities we visited on this cruise.

Tallinn

We did the Soviet Experience Tour through the ship and it was great, very informative and entertaining. The city itself was ok... We went through the Old Town and it was beautiful but nothing was open, very few stores or restaurants.
