Had a week on this ship. Have done 4 previous HAL cruises and 25 others. The ship is beautiful and the theatre amazing. However. Covid protocols were not strictly enforced. No one waiting to sanitise your hands when you got back on the ship. Your choice to do it or not. Same at the entrance to all the dining destinations. We did a Celebrity cruise in January and they were hot on hand sanitation and mask wearing inside the ship. Needless to say we came home with Covid.
The food was quite limited in the buffet and the main restaurant and I object to having to pay extra to get a premium meal. We have paid for this cruise and expect tip top food, which we didn’t get. The choice was poor. Quality not bad but quite repetitive when you don’t eat meat or shellfish which I don’t.
The dance troupe in the main theatre were really spectacular, but they appeared on the stage 4 nights out of the 7 we were on the ship. No individual performers - comedian or singer etc. the group in BB Kings Blues Club were truly brilliant and attracted a big crowd every night but only did short shows and then stopped and the crowd dissipated. The casino was horrible. Horrible and full of cigarette smoke. Not nice. The Microsoft centre had shut so if you had a wi fi/internet problem too bad. The shops were no good and the jewellery shop beautiful but just for looking. The big screen on deck showed movies and headphones should have been given so that those who didn’t want to watch the film were not disturbed. The cabin was lovely (balcony) and the bathroom lovely. Great to have a glass shower door
