Sail Date: May 2022

We have been on the Athens to Malta and Malta to Lisbon cruise from 31st of May to 18th of June 2022 (booked in 2016 for 2017!!!)

Here just a quick report about the Scenic Eclipse. We are not so happy with the Scenic Eclipse. I had a bad accident when I had to evade another person in the corridor and bumped into a handrail that was sticking out.

The Scenic Eclipse is a great ship but has some major design problems the owners should know (or may already know).

Cabin Review

Grand Veranda Suites:

The Room is spacious and has a good layout; however:

Major design errors in the bathroom:

The flat waterfall vanity basin looks very stylish, but is not practical at all. There is no space to put things. The wet waterfall design area takes the whole space. Trying to wash your face will end up being splashed all over (see photos).

The mirror cabinet looks nice, but the left wing of the mirror cabinet cannot be opened all the way. It sticks into the room and cannot be used as a part of the mirror (it just needs different hinges). It even swings in and out with the waves during heavy sea and may hit you (It needs a safety catch).

In the shower, again, everything is square and has sharp corners.

The bathroom was sometimes very smelly. Like if there was an open waste, that lacks of water in the p-trap (we reported this several times).

There is a flat TV as part of a large mirror that makes it look very stylish, but you see mostly the reflection of yourself and the window (very annoying). The sound is very bad (probably the speakers from the flat screen TV - we used a $150 soundbox for playing music...). In the brochures it was advertised as “Bose Sound System”.

The window shade (although electric) is fully light blocking. There is nothing in-between that just reduces the sun light.

There is a small fridge, but with very little ventilation, hence the cabinet it is installed in, is very warm (including the glass ware).
