Embarkation was not as smooth as I had hoped. We could stand in the Elite line with two agents or the Concierge line with 8 agents. We opted for the Elite line since we would be the next to check in. Unfortunately this was a mistake. Little did we know that the two couples in line had major problems. The other agents did not ask us to come over even though they looked at us several times. By the time we realized there was a problem the Concierge lines (all 8 of them) had grown significantly. Oh well, live and learn. It took us over 35 minutes to check in. Solstice is a beautiful and elegant ship. The food is excellent but we were a little disappointed with the select dining due to the sporatic wait staff service. I like the idea of any time dining but would opt for the regular dining service next time for the consistency in service.
The Lawn club seemed under utilized. This space could have been used for more entertainment or dining venues. Unique but only used for occasional activities. The Corning Glass show is on this level and needs a larger venue so more passengers can view the program.
Every staff member we met, was friendly and cheerful. No matter where you were they greeted you with a Hello, how was your day or evening?
Had C1 (Concierge Class) Aft Balcony on Panorama Deck (9th deck) Room comfortable but tight sqeeze if more than 2. 2 Reclining chairs with foot stools and nice table on balcony but not deep like other aft balconies. Not really covered so it gets very hot with direct sun most of the time. The balconies are tiered and you can see the balcony below and the balcony above can see you if you stand near the railing. Views are fantastic. No noise which was a blessing. Probably wouldn't pay extra for the Concierge Class again. The fresh flowers were a nice touch along with the selection of pillows but not sure the additional fare is worth it.
