Introduction: We are a married couple of retirement age, still working, who have previously cruised with Oceania, Holland America, Royal Caribbean and NCL. We are Gold Latitude on NCL. We generally prefer to eat at the specialty restaurants. With the exceptions of Arctica and Antarctica, we have traveled on all continents.
Staff: The staff in all capacities were friendly and accommodating.
Ship: The ship was for the most part very smooth and we arrived everywhere on time. The Dawn is showing her age — tiny TV’s in the cabins, banquettes in restaurants that need reupholstering, and the military style buffet lines designed to move the people quickly compared to the island layout where each different island has a different style of food.
The cabin is a mid-ship mini suite which had everything we needed with the exception of conditioner. The toilet paper was single ply. The TV was small enough to fit on a book shelf. The safe was too small to fit a standard sized iPad. There were 2 zones for temperature control. The cabin steward was in twice a day to clean the cabin and provide fresh towels. The Dawn has all of its mini-suites on Deck 11. Deck 12 is the pool and buffet. There was occasional noise from Deck 12 but not enough to become an issue. All things considered, we have no complaints about the cabin.
